
Background
Andrew’s 35 years’ board experience covers a diverse range of business sectors. An award-winning strategist, Andrew is also a respected chairman, non-executive director, charity trustee and board advisor. He has been a NED of 15 companies, 6 as Chairman.
His career began in 1978 as a Unilever Trainee, followed by senior board positions in Vileda, HP Foods, and Britvic. He was part of the team that floated Britvic in 2008 for £800m.
Post Britvic Andrew strategy clients include household names. He is a Special Adviser to a Corporate Finance House, and he sits on the board of a consumer attractions operator.
Andrew, a former President of The Marketing Society, has served on the Governmental Advisory Committee on Advertising, The Audit Bureau of Circulations, is a former Chairman of The Incorporated Society of British Advertisers, The Institute of Promotional Marketing, and chaired The Advertising Standards Authority Code Review setting the codes which now govern all marketing communications in the UK. In 2011 he was appointed to the Armed Forces Communications Capability Review.
In The City, he is a Past Master of The Marketors Livery Company, and a member of seven others. He is a former member of the Livery Committee, chaired both the 15 strong Financial Services Group, and The Debating Group which meets in the House of Commons. He sits on the Councils of both The City Livery Club and is Chairman of The Royal Society of St George (City Branch).
In 2022/3 he served as Sheriff of The City of London.
Andrew has a business degree, an Honorary Doctorate, and holds several Fellowships. He has been a Trustee of several national charities, including Marie Curie, CRI the drug rehabilitation charity, Sheffield City Trust and is a former member of the Lord Mayor’s Appeal Board. He is a Life Governor of the Sheriff’s and Recorder’s Fund which assists with the rehabilitation of ex-prisoners, and is President of United Response, the charity supporting children and adults with learning disabilities.
A keen traveller, Andrew has visited all seven continents and over 100 countries.
